The following portrait specifically challenges the absurdity of the nonsensical comparisons between physical appearances and their relationships encountered in media. Consequently, stereotypes, prejudices and racism becomes conditioned into society based on preconceived notions and expectations labeled onto the person. However, we as a society need to start moving up close in order to learn and educate ourselves about a person’s details, histories, and personal narratives. We need to start dissolving the preconceived and placed labels. This piece represents my assigned self-portrait. What is yours?
